“WISC-R Intelligence Scale” is one of the most frequently used intelligence measurement tools for children aged 6-16 years, adapted to Turkish standards. The WISC-R Intelligence Scale is designed to assess a child's performance under certain conditions. It consists of two main parts, Verbal and Performance, and subtests and is completed in approximately 1.5 hours. The application of the WISC-R Intelligence Scale should be carried out by experts who have received training in this test and have performed a certain number of applications. Particular attention should be paid to the fact that the practitioner of this test should be certified by the Turkish Psychological Association.
The test has verbal and performance sections and each section is divided into sub-sections. The subtests in the verbal section determine the general knowledge level of individuals, their abilities such as finding similarities, vocabulary, arithmetic, judgment and number recall.
The subtests in the performance section measure individuals' actional performances such as completing pictures, arranging pictures, creating patterns with cubes, combining pieces, solving ciphers, and passing through mazes. It is an individual test and as a result of the test, three intelligence sections of the individual are obtained: verbal, performance and general.
